 Knowledge Article 0402:
My SellFolio projects work on some computers, but not on others
_________________________________________________
Explanation 1
SellFolio uses the Macromedia Flash Player to run SellFolio
projects. If your SellFolio project is to be viewed via the
Internet, the Macromedia Flash Player must be installed on your
viewer's computer. The Macromedia Flash Player is installed on
97% of Internet-enabled desktops worldwide and is distributed
through many key partners, including Microsoft, Netscape, and AOL.
Macromedia Flash Player is pre-installed in several web browsers and
on many computers. It is included in Windows XP (including all new
Windows XP computers) and Apple Macintosh operating systems;
Netscape Navigator, and America Online.
Solution 1
Although the Macromedia Flash Player is installed on 97% of
Internet-enabled desktops worldwide, some viewers of your SellFolio
might not have the Macromedia Flash Player installed. The
Macromedia Flash Player can be installed by clicking the following
button:

Explanation 2
SellFolio uses a great deal of memory. On some computers, your
SellFolio project may load very slowly when viewed over the
Internet—especially if your viewer is on a dial-up connection.
Or, some images may not appear, while other images do appear.
Generally, faster computers, with fast Internet connections (i.e.,
DSL, Cable Modem, T-1, etc.), and a lot of memory tend to provide
the best playback. There are some things you can do to ensure
your SellFolio projects run on all computers.
Solution
2
* If you are using looping background music, avoid using full songs,
which tend to be very large in file size. These full songs
take up a great deal of memory, and some computers may not be able
to handle it. Instead, use small music loops, which load once,
occupy very little memory, and tend to sound just as good. You
can check out
SellFolio's MusicPacks, which are extremely affordable, or you
can buy looping background music from other vendors, as well.
* Consider how tasked your webserver is. The webserver that you
uploaded your SellFolio project to might be overloaded. Or, if
you host your SellFolio project on "shared webspace" from an Internet
provider, then their webservers might be overloaded. If you are
experiencing random problems whereby viewers are sometimes unable to
view your SellFolios, but can view them at other times, you might
consider asking your Internet hosting company about reliability with
their webservers.
